200 Meters Home
On PERIMETRO
From the name of the government regulation for the Covid-19 emergency, “200 meters from home” is the exploration of the space around my house during the only allowed time in the streets for grocery shopping or to get some fresh air.
Like inside the house, even outside the same feeling of immobility pervades, the atmosphere is dense, silent as in a dream, static and mysterious like a metaphysical world of lights and shadows and without people, confined in exasperated geometries, even if never completely abstract – like this quarantine.
These ordinary and familiar “places” to which we normally do not pay attention are what paradoxically this enclosure is returning: the building behind the house the red curtain in the sun of food a basketball court at noon, a new world within these 200 meters.
